Good course to play when everywhere else is waterlogged. Course has great drainage on chalk

The golf course is in very good condition and has improved a great deal in the last few months. It has an excellent club house and pro shop.

As a cafe, it's 2 mins from the A505. A 'quirky' golf clubhouse/bar in an historic building with beams etc. The coffee machine is self-service, card or cash. Plenty of parking could possibly get a coach in there).

This course is now playable. It has improved so much since a few months ago where it was frankly awful and unplayable. If the upkeep is continued, then it is definitely a good place to play.

By far the WORST course I have played!
The greens are horrendous half grass half mud and full of patches! The ball would roll smoother and straighter on a gravel path....
The rough looks like it has never been cut or maintained being nearly 2/3ft tall so no chance of finding your ball.
Probably 2 playable bunkers out of the whole course the rest are completely neglected full of overgrown weeds and huge rocks and flint!
The green fee is overpriced as well at £25 considering online states it's only £20.
I would advise any golfer regardless how well or often you play to definitely AVOID!!!!!

Sad to see how this course so neglected and uncared for. The greens are an absolute disgrace, full of bare patches and tufts of unkempt grass. To see the heaps of broken tee-pegs littering the tees shows a basic lack of interest in maintaining the course. It’s difficult not to feel that the management have given up. I’ve enjoyed 0
playing Heydon Grange for many years but I won’t be going back again.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of playing at Heydon Grange golf club, and I must say, it was nothing short of a disappointment. From the moment I stepped onto the course, it was evident that this place was far from being a golfer's paradise.
Let's start with the greens - they were an absolute disaster. Uneven, bumpy, and full of patches, it felt like putting on a minefield rather than a golf course. Maintaining proper greens is a basic requirement for any golf club, and Heydon Grange failed miserably in this regard.
The tee boxes were no better. I've seen better conditions at neglected public courses. The uneven terrain and lack of proper maintenance made it a daunting task to get a clean shot off the tee. It felt like I was playing in a wilderness rather than a reputable golf club.
To make matters worse, the pace of play was excruciatingly slow, primarily due to the older members ahead of us. I respect their love for the game, but the club should implement measures to ensure a reasonable pace of play for everyone. It's frustrating to have to wait for ages between shots, killing any enjoyment one might have had.
Speaking of maintenance, the entire course seemed awfully maintained. Overgrown rough, unkempt fairways, and lack of basic amenities like ball washers and water stations were prevalent throughout. It's as if the management doesn't care about the overall experience of the golfers.
Perhaps the most infuriating aspect of Heydon Grange is the absurdly high price they charge for such a subpar course. £25 for a round is daylight robbery, considering the dreadful conditions and the lackluster facilities. There are much better courses available at similar or even lower rates.
In conclusion, I strongly advise any golf enthusiast to steer clear of Heydon Grange golf club. The terrible greens, awful tee boxes, slow play, and overall lack of proper maintenance make it a golfing nightmare. Save your money and time by choosing a different course that actually values its customers and takes pride in maintaining a quality golfing experience.

Have been playing this course for the past couple of months. Greens are in very poor condition. Fairways are bunkers also need major attention. Will not be playing here again until these problems have been rectified.

Terrible course, the owners really don't seem to care about anything golf related.
The rough down either side of the fairway makes it impossible to find your ball as it's 2 - 3 foot high, charging 25 quid a round when you can play barkway for £22 and it is 10 times better course has left me furious and underwhelmed, also most the bunkers are GUR with stones the size of your hand in which damage your club, nothing wrong with the bunkers they just can't be bothered to fill them with fresh sand, it was rubbish 5 years a go and still is never again!

Disgrace to even charge £25 for this. Completely unplayable! Never playing again despite being 8 minute drive from my house. Barkway only £20 on a weekend, on that basis this should be 25p based on the greens.
